Article 2. Subject

These terms and conditions apply to any public screening of a film distributed by MaâtMov, organised by an association, collective, institution, cultural organisation or cinema (hereinafter referred to as “the organiser”).

They cover two distinct aspects:

  • the conditions under which the film may be screened;
  • the support services that MaâtMov offers to organisers of screenings and discussions.

Any request confirmed in writing by MaâtMov constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Article 3. Film Screening

3.1. In a cinema

The film’s programming in a cinema is subject to an agreement between MaâtMov and the cinema operator. MaâtMov receives a share of the screening’s box-office revenue, at the rate agreed with the cinema, in accordance with the French Cinema and Moving Image Code. The film copy (DCP) is provided directly to the cinema as part of this agreement.

A screening organized in a cinema without using the services described in Article 4, with or without a debate, does not give rise to any further invoicing by MaâtMov.

3.2. Outside cinemas

For a public screening held in another venue (media library, community hall, open-air, etc.), the organizer chooses one of the packages set out in Article 4. This package includes, at no additional cost, the authorization for public performance of the film on the agreed date, time and location.

These screenings are possible in compliance with the regulations applicable to non-commercial and occasional screenings, in particular the waiting periods following the film’s national theatrical release. For each film, MaâtMov informs the organizer of the date from which an out-of-cinema screening is possible and the corresponding rate.

Article 4. Support Services

Support services are offered to organizers of screening-debates. They fund the work of the MaâtMov team and the remuneration of the directors and speakers who accompany the films. For screenings in cinemas, they are optional and separate from the programming of the film. They are invoiced to the organizer.

4.1. Support Package: €160 incl. VAT

For organizers who lead the debate with their own speakers. MaâtMov covers:

  • the graphic design of the customized poster and flyer for the screening (venue, date, partners);
  • technical coordination with the cinema for the broadcast of additional content (presentation, videos);
  • the provision of facilitation materials reserved for organizers: Q&A to help prepare the debate, presentation slides, notes and, for example, an interview with the director, and, depending on the film, a video message from the director addressed to the audience;
  • publication of the event on MaâtMov’s website and social media;
  • advice to the organizer on preparing and hosting the evening.

The facilitation materials are sent to the organizer as soon as the event is confirmed.

4.2. Support Package with speaker: €220 incl. VAT

The entire Support Package, plus the organization of the director’s visit or, if the director is unavailable, of a specialist speaker: making contact, managing their schedule, travel logistics, putting participants in touch, and payment for their contribution.

The speaker’s travel, accommodation and meal costs remain the organizer’s responsibility, unless otherwise agreed.

4.3. Rate Adjustments

MaâtMov may adapt its rates according to the nature of the event (small venue, free-admission screening, etc.), upon the organizer’s justified request. For tours of several screenings, an overall or tiered rate may be offered.

4.4. Public Materials

The film’s poster, photos and trailer remain freely downloadable from the MaâtMov website, without a support package.

Article 5. Ordering and Confirmation

Any screening request is sent to contact@maatmov.com or via the website’s contact form. It specifies the date, time, venue, the partner cinema where applicable, and the desired package.

Once these details have been settled, MaâtMov sends an information form. It is used to set up invoicing, prepare communication and organize the delivery of the film with the cinema.

The order becomes firm upon written confirmation from MaâtMov, which confirms the availability of the film and, where applicable, that of the director or speaker.

Article 6. Facturation et paiement

The support packages are invoiced to the organizer. All prices are stated including VAT.

The share of box-office revenue owed by the cinema is invoiced separately, between MaâtMov and the cinema operator.

Payment is made by invoice, according to the terms specified at confirmation.

Article 7. Organizer's Commitments

The organizer undertakes to:

  • act as MaâtMov’s main point of contact for the organization of the event;
  • provide the information needed for it to run smoothly;
  • mention the title of the film, the name of the director and that of MaâtMov on all communication materials related to the screening;
  • present the film and its director fairly, without misrepresenting the work or attributing to it statements that its authors did not make.

The organizer is liable for damage caused by its own fault, in particular any harm to the image of the film, the director or MaâtMov resulting from its actions or its communication, under the conditions of ordinary law.

Article 8. Copyright and Use of the Film

The films distributed by MaâtMov are protected by the French Intellectual Property Code and by international copyright conventions.

Any screening is authorized only for the confirmed date, time and venue. This authorization does not permit:

  • reproducing, copying or recording the film;
  • lending, transmitting or making it available to a third party, whether free of charge or not;
  • capturing, retransmitting or uploading all or part of the screening, in particular on the internet and social media.

Any unauthorized screening or any use contrary to these terms constitutes copyright infringement within the meaning of Articles L.335-2 et seq. of the French Intellectual Property Code.

Article 9. Delivery of the Film

For screenings in cinemas, MaâtMov delivers a digital DCP copy directly to the cinema. For screenings outside cinemas, the screening format is agreed with the organizer; a secure viewing link may be provided. MaâtMov coordinates the delivery and return of the media.

Article 10. Cancellation and Postponement

In the event of cancellation by the organizer, the following amounts remain due under the chosen support package:

  • more than 14 days before the screening: no charge;
  • between 14 and 7 days before the screening: 50% of the amount;
  • less than 7 days before the screening: the full amount.

Travel costs already incurred for a speaker’s visit remain due in all cases, except in the event of force majeure.

In the event of force majeure (illness, strike, bad weather, etc.), a postponement is offered at no additional cost.

Article 11. Liability

MaâtMov undertakes to provide the agreed services with care and within the agreed timeframes. It cannot be held liable for:

  • a malfunction of the host venue’s projection equipment;
  • a failure by the organizer to meet their own obligations (local authorizations, public safety, etc.);
  • the unavailability of a speaker for reasons beyond their control. In this case, MaâtMov offers another speaker or applies the Support Package, and refunds the difference.

The organizer remains solely responsible for public safety and for the regulatory compliance of the screening venue.

Article 12. Personal Data

The information collected is used solely for managing screenings, promoting them and invoicing. It is neither sold nor passed on to third parties, apart from the partner cinema and the speaker for the purpose of organizing the event.

In accordance with the GDPR, the organizer has the right to access, rectify and delete their data, on simple request to contact@maatmov.com.

Article 13. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties will first seek an amicable solution.

Terms and conditions last updated on September 30, 2026.
