Synopsis

Description

Waging war is the work of a storyteller. A good story is essential to legitimize the use of military force. That is why armies need strong promotion, and Israel is a model country when it comes to marketing its military ventures. We have successfully colonized, occupied, and invaded, and we have only grown stronger and more accepted among nations. Our story of persecuted Jews and our enlightened democracy are both used in our robust PR toolkit. But before we present our story to the world, we must present it to our children. As the moral corruption tied to apartheid thrives, avoiding military service becomes a threat. For some children, we will offer benefits; for most, we will sell fictional promises. Each child is selected to serve under tolerable pressure and a calibrated amount of exposure to violence. Innocence tells the story of children who resisted enlistment but eventually gave in.
